Thazen Releases Topsoil, a Private AI Coding Agent for Amazon Bedrock and AWS GovCloud (US)
EUSTIS, Fla. — Thazen, a certified HUBZone small business, today announced Topsoil, a private AI coding agent for Amazon Bedrock and AWS GovCloud (US). Topsoil brings Bedrock’s model choice to engineering teams without a vendor-operated control plane, telemetry stream or prompt store. Thazen built Topsoil over the past year, and its engineering teams have used it internally before bringing it to market for customers and partners in the FedGov and DoW space.
Topsoil is for organizations that want serious AI help with engineering without sending that work to another SaaS platform. Model calls go to the Bedrock or customer-gateway endpoint the customer configures, under the AWS account, region, network and IAM controls they already operate, in commercial regions or AWS GovCloud (US). Teams choose from OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, Amazon Nova and Meta Llama, available through Amazon Bedrock in their account and region.
Topsoil is governed by default. Plan mode is read-only until someone approves the plan, every edit arrives as a diff, and commands run only from an allow-list the customer controls. Backlog items from GitHub Issues, or Jira Data Center with Bitbucket Data Center, are worked in an isolated git worktree and come back as a pull request for a person to review; Topsoil never merges on its own. Before a change is called done, a new test has to fail without the fix. Monthly account and user budgets are checked before every model call.
Topsoil runs as a terminal client on macOS, Windows and Linux, with a VS Code extension and a desktop app for macOS and Windows.
“For the past year, we’ve been building Topsoil and using it every day across Thazen’s own engineering teams. It changed how we deliver, and our customers and partners across FedGov and the DoW need the same thing: the speed of an AI coding agent without their code ever leaving their environment. Topsoil runs inside their own AWS account and GovCloud, with nothing in between that’s ours. Now we’re bringing it to market so they can put it to work on their missions.”
Enterprise licensing is scoped by program, project or enclave, with unlimited users. Pilots run inside the customer’s own AWS account, commercial or GovCloud, against success criteria the customer sets.
Topsoil runs inside your own AWS account, so the authorization boundary and the ATO remain yours. Topsoil does not claim FedRAMP authorization, a CMMC certification or a DoD Impact Level.
Topsoil integrates with Amazon Bedrock. Amazon Bedrock, AWS and AWS GovCloud (US) are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Model availability varies by AWS Region, account access and service configuration. Topsoil is a product of Thazen, LLC.
